Biography

Britt Goods is an Assistant Professor in the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth University. She received her PhD in Biological Engineering from MIT in 2017, where her research focused on using transcriptomics to characterize immune cells in the central nervous system, revealing broadly dysfunctional gene programs in the context of disease. Dr. Goods completed her postdoctoral training under Dr. Alex Shalek at the Broad Institute and Ragon Institute, as well as at the Institute of Medical Engineering and Sciences at MIT. Her work is broadly focused on creating tools and approaches, along with the requisite biological knowledge, to address clinical problems in reproductive health. Current focus areas in her lab include investigating the role of immune cells in reproductive tissues, facilitating the discovery of non-hormonal contraceptives using bioinformatic and transcriptomic approaches, and modeling reproductive tissues using ex vivo culture and organoid systems. The long-term goal of Dr. Goods' research is to improve the lives of people by building a better understanding of immunology in reproductive tissues and translating insights into therapeutics and diagnostics, as well as novel ways of studying and monitoring reproductive health.
