Dr. Brooke Watanabe

Biography

Brooke Watanabe, M.D., is a practicing board-certified emergency medicine physician and an Associate Program Director for the Emergency Medicine Residency at Dell Medical School, University of Texas at Austin. Originally from Indiana, she completed her undergraduate and medical training at Indiana University before moving to Austin for her residency. Post-graduation, she has remained at Dell Medical School, focusing on preparing future emergency medicine physicians through her role in the residency program. Her academic interests include quality improvement, documentation, efficiency, financial considerations in emergency medicine, and medicolegal issues related to career planning. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Dr. Watanabe has extensive administrative experience, serving as the quality director for the emergency department and as the trauma director. She actively participates in various committees, including the Dell Seton Peer Review Medical Executive Committee and the Dell Medical School Faculty Wellness Engagement Committee, working to improve the integration of care in the community alongside her colleagues.
