Biography

Professor Curran primarily focuses on using empirical methods to study labour and employment law dispute resolution. He has a diverse and extensive academic background, having earned a Bachelor of Laws from Western University, a Master of Industrial Relations from the University of Toronto, and a Master of Laws in Alternative Dispute Resolution from Osgoode Hall Law School. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, which further augments his interdisciplinary capabilities. His rigorous training in empirical methodology enables him to conduct empirical legal research, an increasingly important area. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in the field of labour and employment law, utilizing sophisticated statistical analysis. Curran is also a member of the national Labour Law Casebook Group, which produces the authoritative Canadian casebook on labour and employment law. In addition to his research, Dr. Curran is known for his outstanding teaching, particularly in dispute resolution, negotiation, contracts, and labour employment law. He has received several teaching awards, including the University of Manitoba Merit Award for Teaching Excellence.
