Biography

Bruce Fouke is the Ralph E. Grim Professor of Earth Science and Environmental Change at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he also serves as the Director of the Illinois Roy J. Carver Biotechnology Center. He completed his Bachelor of Science at Bradley University, his Master of Science degrees at the University of Iowa and the University of Chicago, and his Ph.D. at Stony Brook University. He has held postdoctoral positions at the Free University of Amsterdam, University of California Berkeley, and NASA Ames Research Center. He has been recognized as the Roy M. Huffington Distinguished Lecturer by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists in the Asia-Pacific Region, presenting lectures in India, Japan, China, Vietnam, Australia, and New Zealand. Professor Fouke has previously held appointments at Lund University in Sweden and the Illinois Center for Advanced Studies, alongside adjunct roles at Montana State University and the Caribbean Research Management Biodiversity Laboratory in Curaçao. He contributes to scientific panels for the NSF, DOE, and NASA, and his research has been featured on platforms such as National Geographic and NPR.
