Biography

Bruce is a Full Professor of Governance at the University of Southampton, UK. He has worked on the faculty of several universities including Bradford, Sussex, Leicester, Bayes Business School at City University of London, and King's College London. Bruce serves as an Area Editor for Frontier Markets of the journal Research in International Business & Finance, and is a senior editor for the International Journal of Emerging Markets. He has been a Visiting Professor at Aalto University in Finland, IESEG Business School in France, and has held positions at Armenian State University of Economics and Dunya University of Afghanistan. Bruce obtained his PhD from King's College London, an MSc in International Business from Birkbeck, University of London, and a BSc from the University of Edinburgh, with his PhD fully supported by a prestigious grant from the UK's Economic & Social Research Council (ESRC). Since 2000, Bruce has focused on international corporate governance research, having contractually worked with some of the largest investment banks in the world, including BNP Paribas in France, Credit Agricole Capital Markets, and HSBC Investment Bank in the UK, as well as Gulf International Bank in Bahrain and the private equity hedge fund Marshall Wace LLP. He has published 60 journal articles including works in highly respected AB3*/4 FT50 rated journals and has received various awards such as the Finance Track Paper Prize from the European International Business Academy in 2017 and the Michael Z. Brooke Doctoral Prize from AIB UK & Ireland in 2007.
