Biography

Professor Bruce Hellinga teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses in the areas of transportation and economics at the University of Waterloo. His research expertise includes traffic flow theory modeling, traffic engineering, active transportation, traffic sensor data analytics, and transit operations, with over 25 years of experience in field traffic engineering. Dr. Hellinga has been involved in significant projects, including the Variable Speed Limit System Feasibility Preliminary Design Study and various studies funded by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation and Transport Canada that aim to enhance road safety and traffic flow. He has also been active in evaluating and optimizing public transportation systems.
