Dr. Bruce Kuniholm

Biography

Bruce Kuniholm is an accomplished scholar and educator specialized in public policy and diplomatic history. He served as the inaugural Dean of Duke University's Sanford School of Public Policy from 2009 to 2013 and has held various leadership positions, including Vice Provost for Academic and International Affairs. His research focuses on U.S. foreign policy in the Near and Middle East, where he has explored critical issues such as oil diplomacy and international relations extensively. Over his career, Kuniholm has published more than 100 articles, chapters, and book reviews, accumulating distinguished fellowships and recognitions from such institutions as the Council on Foreign Relations and the Fulbright Foundation. His educational background includes a Ph.D. in History, as well as multiple degrees from Duke University and Dartmouth College. In addition to his academic pursuits, Kuniholm has contributed significantly to the internationalization efforts at Duke University, engaging in initiatives that enhance global education and research.
