Dr. Bruce Lenthall

Biography

Bruce Lenthall is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of Pennsylvania and serves as the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning. He earned his Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Pennsylvania in 1999 and holds a B.A. from Carleton College. Before returning to Penn, Lenthall taught history at Bryn Mawr College and Barnard College. His teaching and research primarily explore the cultural, political, and social history of the 20th-century U.S. He is the author of 'Radio's America: The Great Depression and the Rise of Modern Mass Culture', published by the University of Chicago Press in 2007, which examines the role of radio in shaping American culture during the 1930s.
