Biography

Bruce Neal is a Professor of Medicine at UNSW Sydney and Executive Director of The George Institute for Global Health. He completed his medical degree at the University of Bristol in the UK in 1990 and trained in general medicine. Prior to joining The George Institute, Bruce studied epidemiology at the University of Auckland, where he obtained his PhD. Since 1999, he has played a leading role in expanding The George Institute, which now has more than 700 staff and researchers worldwide. He has secured more peer-reviewed funding than any other researcher in his field and has been recognized as a highly cited author multiple times. His research focuses on public health, particularly in the areas of high blood pressure and diabetes, with a commitment to translating research findings into better clinical practices and health policies. Bruce is also the founder of George Clinical, a successful clinical research organization, and has launched the FoodSwitch application to promote healthier food choices among consumers.
