Biography

Bruce Pike is an internationally recognized leader in structural and functional imaging of the human brain using MRI. He has made a multitude of landmark contributions to the design of novel techniques for measuring the brain's morphology, composition, microstructure, connectivity, functional organization, hemodynamics, and energetics. His techniques have been utilized to study the human brain throughout the lifespan in both health and disease. He has published over 300 scientific papers and a book that has been cited 35,000 times. Pike has served as a Senior Editor for the journal NeuroImage and is a Fellow of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine. He has participated in the Advisory Boards of a long list of national and international programs and organizations. From 1999 to 2013, he was the Director of the McConnell Brain Imaging Centre at the Montreal Neurological Institute of McGill University, where he also held the position of Killam Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery, and James McGill Professor of Biomedical Engineering. Since 2014, he has been a Professor and Head of the Image Science Division in the Department of Radiology at the University of Calgary, where he is also the CAIP Chair in Health Brain Aging. Under his leadership, the Image Science Division has grown to include 14 faculty members and launched a new MR-guided Focused Ultrasound platform.
