Dr. Bruce Quinton

Biography

Bruce Quinton is an Associate Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, specializing in Ocean Naval Architectural Engineering. He possesses a B.Eng., M.Eng., and PhD from Memorial University, along with P.Eng. accreditation. His research interests primarily include low/non-ice class ships, ice loads on marine structures, and extreme accidental loads. Quinton is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Royal Institution of Naval Architects and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers. He has served on specialist committees for the International Ship Offshore Structures Congress, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field of marine engineering. His work has received recognition through various awards, including the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence and the Vice Admiral E. L. Cochrane Award from SNAME for his peer-reviewed publications. Quinton is known for his innovative research methods, including nonlinear finite element analyses and investigations into the interactions between marine materials and harsh environments.
