Dr. Bruce Tether

Biography

Bruce Tether is a Professor of Innovation Management at the Manchester Business School, University of Manchester. He holds an Associate Head position within the Research Innovation Management Policy Division and is a member of the Executive Board of the UK Innovation Research Centre, a collaboration with the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London. His teaching spans innovation management and entrepreneurship at the master’s level. Previously, Tether served as a Professor of Design Innovation at Imperial College Business School, where he led a design-innovation research team. His academic journey includes a decade at the University of Manchester, progressing from a Research Fellow at the ESRC Centre of Research on Innovation and Competition to a Full Professor. Tether has also worked at the Centre for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises at Warwick University and is a former doctoral student at the Science Policy Research Unit at the University of Sussex. His research themes cover innovation, entrepreneurship, creativity, and competitive dynamics in professional service firms with a focus on design and engineering consultancies. Tether's work is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on how innovations can contribute to global prosperity and sustainability.
