Biography

Bruna Rubbo received her medical degree in 2006 from the Medical Sciences Faculty of the Santa Casa de São Paulo in Brazil. She worked as a General Practitioner for three years before relocating to the UK to pursue an MSc in Clinical Experimental Medicine at University College London, where she graduated with distinction in 2011. Bruna worked as a research assistant in the Clinical Epidemiology group at UCL from 2012 to 2014 and later became a senior research assistant in the Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) group at the University of Southampton from 2015 to 2020. She completed her PhD in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Southampton in 2021, focusing on the application of methods like topological data analysis to small, complex datasets related to PCD. After her PhD, she trained as a postdoctoral scholar in environmental epidemiology at the University of Southern California, specializing in non-linear longitudinal modeling and metabolomics. Bruna's ongoing research includes optimizing clinical care pathways for individuals with PCD and developing innovative predictive screening tools to improve diagnosis and management of the condition. She also holds a BRC Bridging Fellowship to develop further research proposals within her field.
