Biography

Professor Barbieri has general research interests in the area of strategic marketing planning in complex and changing marketing macroenvironments. His particular research interests focus primarily on marketing mindset, market orientation, marketing competencies assessment, and strategy planning. He has contributed to the field with his publication, 'Marketing Paradigm Twenty-First Century,' featured in the leading-selling text, 'Basic Marketing: Global Managerial Approach' (Shapiro, S; Perrault, W; McCarthy, E: Irwin - 1999). As a core faculty member of the MBA Program at Concordia University, he has been recognized for his teaching excellence, winning the Faculty of Commerce and Administration's Distinguished Teaching Award in 1988, the university's Alumni Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1998, and the Concordia Council Student Life Teaching Excellence Award in 1999. He was also a nominee for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education's Canadian Professor of the Year Award in 1990. Before joining Concordia, he worked as a sales marketing planner at Avon. In addition, Professor Barbieri is a member of Le Barreau du Québec.
