Biography

Bryan Cheang is a Research Fellow at the LSE Hayek Program and a Teaching Fellow at the School of Public Policy. He received his PhD in Political Economy from King's College London and is a Senior Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Governance and Society. His research focuses on the intersection of philosophy, politics, and economics, with a particular emphasis on comparative political economy, the ethics of market exchange, the role of the state in development, and the challenges of effective industrial policy. Cheang has published numerous articles and books, including 'Economic Liberalism and the Developmental State: Hong Kong and Singapore’s Post-War Development' and 'Institutions and Economic Development.' He is currently working on a handbook of liberal political economy with Cambridge University Press and is editing a volume on Southeast Asian development with Oxford University Press.
