Biography

Dr. Bryan P. Stanifer is a Professor of Surgery at Columbia University and serves as the Surgical Director of the Lung Volume Reduction Program. He completed his general surgery residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and pursued a fellowship in thoracic surgery at Northwestern University. His clinical interests include thoracic surgery, lung cancer, esophageal cancer, and minimally invasive surgical techniques. Dr. Stanifer has authored multiple presentations, abstracts, and publications on topics such as lung cancer, tracheal surgery, and spontaneous pneumothorax. He co-founded the Women’s Lung Center, which aims to address the unique challenges faced by women with lung cancer and other metastatic diseases. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Stanifer has extensive volunteer experience and obtained a Master of Public Health from Harvard University, where he focused on health management and policy. He is a Quillen Medical Scholar from the James H. Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University and was awarded the Howard Hughes Student Research Grant during his undergraduate studies.
