Biography

Bryn King joined Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work in July 2015 as an Associate Professor. Bryn is an Affiliated Researcher at the Children’s Data Network at the University of Southern California and has worked with the California Child Welfare Indicators Project at the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on the epidemiology of service involvement and outcomes for children and youth who have faced maltreatment in the child protective system in North America. This includes studies on the likelihood and risk factors associated with early childbirth and adolescent parenting in relation to these issues. He has also assessed differences in clinical presentation and decision-making tied to outcomes based on race, ethnicity, gender, and other demographic characteristics associated with maltreatment. Bryn founded the Youth Wellness Lab, a research collaborative aimed at enhancing services and outcomes for young people across various service sectors. He is currently the Principal Investigator on external-funded grants, including a SSHRC Insight Grant that addresses the needs and experiences of young mothers involved in the child welfare system.
