Biography

Buddy Ratner is the Co-Director of the Center for Dialysis Innovation and serves as the Director of the Engineered Biomaterials Engineering Research Center, holding the Michael L. Myrna Darland Endowed Chair in Technology Commercialization at the University of Washington. He received his PhD in Polymer Chemistry from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He has received numerous awards, including the Lifetime Innovator and Inventor Award from the University of Washington in 2014 and the Distinguished Service Award from the ACS Division of Polymer Chemistry in 2015. His work aims to translate basic scientific discoveries into technologies that can improve the performance of medical devices through innovative engineering and material synthesis.
