Biography

Bülent Gültekin is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he is also the Director of the Emerging Economies Program. His research interests include corporate finance, capital markets, financial development, and privatization. Gültekin has an extensive background in public service, having served as the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey and as a Chief Adviser to the Ministry of Privatization in Poland. His notable positions also include serving as the Prime Minister of Turkey and as the President of the Housing Development Public Participation Administration. He has advised numerous governments and organizations on privatization and economic reform, including those in Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Poland, Indonesia, Turkmenistan, and Turkey, as well as international organizations such as the World Bank and the United Nations Development Program. Gültekin earned his PhD in Finance and Statistics from the Wharton School and holds an MBA from Bogazici University in Istanbul, along with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Robert College, Istanbul.
