Biography

Bumsoo Lee is an Associate Professor in Urban Regional Planning, with a courtesy appointment at the Institute for Sustainability, Energy, and Environment (iSEE). His research interests focus on spatial organization in urban areas and sustainable transportation systems. He investigates the interplay between technological development and demographic dynamics that are reshaping urban structure, and how land use and transportation interactions can be optimized to promote smart growth policies for sustainable and equitable transportation. He currently serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Planning Education and Research (JPER). Bumsoo received his PhD in Planning from the University of Southern California (USC) in 2006, and has a master's degree in Urban Planning from Seoul National University and a bachelor's degree in Urban Planning from Hanyang University. In his doctoral studies at USC, he worked as a research associate at the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements (KRIHS) for several years.
