Biography

H. Burak Gunay is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Carleton University, where he also serves as the Director and Associate Chair for Graduate Studies in Building Engineering. He specializes in Building Science Engineering and Sustainability Engineering. He has a B.A.Sc. from Bogazici University, as well as both M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Carleton University. His research interests encompass adaptive indoor climate control, automated fault detection and diagnostics in buildings, data-driven modeling in building science, building performance simulation, and the application of big data techniques in intelligent buildings. Gunay is actively involved in teaching various courses related to building science, energy management, and green building design. He has contributed significantly to the Building Performance Research Centre and has mentored graduate research students in his field. Gunay is dedicated to advancing the knowledge and practices in building engineering through both his research and teaching endeavors.
