Biography

Burak Kantarci is a Full Professor in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Ottawa. He is the founding director of the Generation Communications Computing Networks and Smart Connected Vehicles Innovation Labs. Kantarci holds a courtesy faculty appointment in the Electrical Computer Engineering Department at Clarkson University, Potsdam, New York. Before joining uOttawa, he served as an Assistant Professor at Clarkson University from 2009 to 2014 and worked as a research fellow in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Ottawa. He has co-authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications in established journals and conference proceedings sponsored by notable publishers including IEEE and ACM. Burak Kantarci is involved in various federally and provincially funded research projects supported by agencies like the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, Canada Foundation for Innovation, and the U.S. National Science Foundation. He is a Distinguished Speaker for the ACM from 2019 to 2021 and a Senior Member of both IEEE and ACM. Kantarci has served as an editor for IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials, associate editor for IEEE Networking Letters, and has held various leadership roles in professional organizations, enhancing research in communication systems and networks.
