Biography

Burak Ozdoganlar is the Ver Planck Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University and serves as the Associate Director of the Engineering Research Accelerator. He also holds courtesy appointments in the Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Materials Science Engineering. Ozdoganlar obtained his M.S. degrees from Ohio State University in 1993 and 1995, and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1999. Before joining Carnegie Mellon in 2004, he was a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a senior member of the technical staff at Sandia National Laboratories. His primary research interests lie in modeling and experimentation in manufacturing processes and systems, specializing in multi-scale manufacturing applications, precision engineering, and structural dynamics. Ozdoganlar has co-authored over 90 archival journal articles and more than 110 conference articles. He has been actively involved in several professional societies and has received numerous awards for his contributions, including the ASME Blackall Machine Tool Gage Award and the NSF CAREER Award.
