Biography

Burak Ozdoganlar is the Ver Planck Professor and Associate Director of the Engineering Research Accelerator at Carnegie Mellon University. He holds courtesy faculty positions in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Materials Science Engineering. His academic background includes a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1999, as well as M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering from Ohio State University. Ozdoganlar has held positions at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a postdoctoral research associate and as a senior member of the technical staff at Sandia National Laboratories. His research focuses on multi-scale manufacturing processes and systems, precision engineering, and modeling experimental approaches related to structural dynamics. He has co-authored over 90 journal articles and more than 110 conference papers. Ozdoganlar is a fellow of ASME and has served on various editorial boards and technical committees. His recent awards include the ASME Blackall Machine Tool Gage Award and the SME Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer award.
