Biography

Byron Peters is an artist and writer who engages with various mediums including film, networked technologies, sculpture, text, drawing, and sound installation. His work focuses on collective labor practices, digitality, racial capitalism, and the histories of science and mathematics. Peters has exhibited at notable venues such as Darling Foundry in Montreal, Para Site in Hong Kong, ICA Miami, White Building in London, Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts in New York, and the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. He has also given talks at esteemed institutions including the New School in New York, the Centre for the Study of Contemporary Art at UCL, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the London School of Economics. His films have been showcased at prominent festivals such as Images Festival, True/False, and DOXA, as well as the International Film Festival Rotterdam. In 2018, Peters collaborated with late activist and community television producer Sid Chow Tan on archive-based films that explore themes of justice, mathematics, and mythologies within the contexts of Chinatown and Downtown Eastside in Vancouver.
