Biography

C. Patrick Lusk is a Professor in the Department of Cell Biology at Yale School of Medicine. He runs the LusKing laboratory in collaboration with Megan King and co-directs the Molecular Cell Biology, Genetics Development Track, and the Cellular, Molecular, Quantitative Biology Training Program. His research focuses on the fundamental cellular mechanisms of compartmentalization, with an emphasis on nuclear envelope biogenesis and nuclear pore complexes. Dr. Lusk studied nuclear transport during his graduate work at the University of Alberta and was trained during his postdoctoral fellowship by Nobel Laureate Günter Blobel at Rockefeller University. His work has provided important insights into nuclear transport regulation and nuclear pore assembly. Dr. Lusk has also developed a yeast model to study integral membrane proteins within the inner nuclear membrane, contributing to the understanding of gene regulation and genome organization. His expertise in yeast cell biology and genetics, along with super-resolution proteomic approaches, aims to illuminate the function of the nuclear periphery.
