Biography

Professor Keegan’s research and writing analyze the histories and theoretical implications of queer/transgender media representation, aesthetic figuration, and cultural production. He is committed to the critical exploration of popular culture and has written extensively on transgender and queer affects, ontologies, and phenomenologies articulated through popular media formats, platforms, and genres. Keegan is the author of "Lana Lilly Wachowski: Sensing Transgender" and has co-edited special issues for prominent journals such as "Transgender Studies Quarterly" and "Journal of Cinema and Media Studies." In addition to his academic contributions, he served as a Fulbright Distinguished Research Chair in the Arts and Social Sciences at Carleton University during 2021-2022. Currently, he co-edits the book series "Queer Screens" for Wayne State University Press.
