Biography

Caglar Kaya holds a Ph.D. in Financial Economics from Lund University, where his doctoral dissertation focused on corporate growth and corporate credit risk. During his Ph.D. studies, Caglar was a visiting scholar at the Finance Department of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also holds master’s degrees in International Finance (with a specialization in Banking & Accounting) from Istanbul Bilgi University, International Management from the University of Bologna, and Finance from Lund University. With five years of industry experience in auditing and banking at multinational financial companies, Caglar has developed a strong foundation in his research fields, which include corporate governance, corporate finance, banking, and industrial organization. Currently, he is working on a project about enterprise foundations, focusing on board governance and stakeholder relationships, particularly the implications of unique ownership structures on credit risk. His research also investigates the effects of internal capital markets within Swedish corporate groups and continues studying the dynamics of trade credit and capital structure within the corporate finance field.
