Biography

Caglar Ozturk graduated in 2013 with a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Cleveland State University, where he conducted master’s thesis research at the Spine Research Lab at the Cleveland Clinic, developing an interest in medical device design and biomechanics research. He completed his PhD degree in 2018 at Koc University, focusing on developing mechanical circulatory assist devices for the treatment of patients with advanced heart failure. Following his PhD, he became a postdoctoral associate at the Institute for Medical Engineering and Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, supported by a Fulbright Postdoctoral Research Award. In 2024, he joined the University of Southampton as a Lecturer, where his research emphasizes the development of computational and experimental methods for cardiovascular blood flow simulation and medical device design. His interdisciplinary research integrates clinical aspects, focusing on improving patient care in cardiovascular surgery and adult congenital heart disease.
