Biography

Caitie Barrett is an archaeologist who investigates everyday life, religious experience, and cross-cultural interactions in the ancient Mediterranean. She is currently the co-director of the Casa della Regina Carolina (CRC) Project in Pompeii, a joint Italian/American project sponsored by Cornell University and the University of Bologna. Dr. Barrett has published extensively on interactions between Egypt and the Greco-Roman world, including her notable works like 'Egyptianizing Figurines of Delos: A Study in Hellenistic Religion' and 'Domesticating Empire: Egyptian Landscapes in Pompeian Gardens'. Her research has garnered national and international grants from organizations such as the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Geographic Society. Barrett teaches a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses related to Mediterranean and Egyptian archaeology. She actively welcomes applications from prospective graduate students in Classics, Archaeology, Anthropology, and Near Eastern Studies.
