Dr. Caitlin Charman

Biography

Caitlin Charman is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Memorial University of Newfoundland, specializing in Newfoundland Labrador literature and Atlantic Canadian literature. She holds a PhD in English Literature from Queen’s University, and she has published extensively on various topics within Canadian literature, including environmental writing and regionalism. Her notable works include articles and book chapters addressing industrialization and regional identity in Canadian fiction, and she has presented her research at major conferences. Charman actively participates in professional academic communities, being a member of the Association for Literature, Environment, and Culture Canada. She has taught a range of courses, such as Newfoundland Literature and Canadian Literature, at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Her research interests include Ocean Studies, Energy Humanities, Heritage Tourism Studies, and Public Policy. Charman continues to supervise honours graduate projects that explore these themes.
