Biography

Calvin Lin is a University Distinguished Teaching Professor at the University of Texas at Austin in the Department of Computer Science. His research interests include computer architecture, compilers, and security. He has significantly contributed to the improvement of high school computer science curricula through a NSF-funded initiative. Additionally, Lin serves as the Director of the Turing Scholars Honors Program and has been a longtime coach for the University of Texas Men's Ultimate Frisbee team. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Princeton University and his PhD from the University of Washington. His work has received numerous accolades including the William David Blunk Memorial Professorship in 2019, the President’s Associates Teaching Excellence Award in 2015, and the University of Texas Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award in 2011, among others. Lin’s publications and research outputs underscore his commitment to advancing computer science education and fostering student engagement.
