Camden Hutchison is an Assistant Professor at the Peter Allard School of Law, specializing in corporate transactions, comparative corporate governance, and legal history. He earned his Ph.D. in history from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where his dissertation focused on the history of corporate regulation in the nineteenth and twentieth-century United States. Prior to returning to graduate school, he practiced as a corporate associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, representing private equity firms and public corporations in mergers, acquisitions, and corporate transactions. His interest in corporate law and legal history is deep-rooted, stemming from his undergraduate studies in history. After gaining experience as a corporate lawyer, he decided to pursue his Ph.D. in history, believing that his historical training would greatly enhance his legal research. Camden's unique perspective arises from the relatively few scholars who approach corporate law from a historical standpoint. His current research interests focus on the differences in American and Canadian corporate law federalism, notably the interjurisdictional competition being weaker in Canada. He also plans to investigate the historical shift in Canadian corporate law from its English roots towards increasing American influence.
