Biography

Cameron S.G. Jefferies, B.Sc., LL.B., LL.M., S.J.D., is a Professor at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, specializing in international and domestic environmental law and energy law. He currently teaches courses including Environmental Law, International Environmental Law, Basic Oil and Gas Law, and Oceans Law and Policy. Admitted to the Law Society of Alberta in 2010, Cameron completed his graduate studies at the University of Virginia, School of Law, as a Fulbright Scholar. Prior to entering academia, he practiced law with Field LLP in Edmonton and served as a Research Associate at the Health Law Institute at the University of Alberta. He has published numerous book chapters and articles in Canadian and U.S. law journals and has authored several significant texts, including 'Marine Mammal Conservation Law' (OUP, 2016) and 'Tort Law' (Carswell, 2017). In addition to his teaching and research, he is a co-editor of 'Global Environmental Change and Innovation in International Environmental Law' (CUP, 2018) and an invited speaker at various national and international conferences. His research focuses on International Environmental Law, Oceans Law and Policy, Climate Change Tort Law, and he remains actively engaged in public interest advocacy for local environmental law reform.
