Dr. Camilla Hällgren

Biography

Camilla Hällgren works as an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Educational Science at Umeå University, Sweden. She has a research focus on identity, social issues, and contemporary digital media, with a particular emphasis on the intersection of social values, identity, and education in digital contexts. Hällgren has been engaged in empirical and theoretical work for over ten years, contributing to the understanding of how digital technology influences identity formation. As a professional artist since 2010, her artwork has been represented in various public institutions across Sweden, including museums and National Public Art Councils. Her research combines art and academic inquiry, aiming to deepen the understanding of the human condition through the lens of identity in digital technology. Hällgren leads the ARED - Applied Research Education Digitalisation research group, which explores contemporary and critical dimensions of identity-making through digital media. Her work promotes a norm-critical pedagogical dialogue and employs innovative multimodal research methods to gain insights into the gendered dimensions of identity formation.
