Biography

Camilla Schwartz is an Associate Professor at the University of Southern Denmark with a focus on childfree studies and contemporary literature. Her research examines the representation of childfree women in Western cultural history, analyzing literature, film, television, and performance art. Schwartz's work particularly highlights the contributions of notable childfree authors such as Karen Blixen, Tove Jansson, and Charlotte Brontë. In 2022, she received a grant from the Carlsberg Foundation to write a book on contemporary literature's negotiations of childfreedom, set to be published in 2026. Furthermore, she is engaged in collaborative projects aimed at producing supplements to Nordic Women’s Literary History and co-authoring an anthology titled "LOVE ETC." with Rita Felski, which is expected to be released by Virginia University Press.
