Biography

Camille Kandiko Howson is a Professor at the Higher Education Centre, Imperial College London, specializing in higher education research. She is an international expert with a focus on student engagement, student outcomes, learning gain, equality, social justice, quality, and performance accountability. Her work supports high-quality, high-impact pedagogical research and she collaborates with colleagues to conduct disciplinary-based educational research. As the academic lead, she develops learning analytics at Imperial, building a Unified Data Platform and establishing governance, policy, and ethical guidelines related to learning analytics. Camille leads in designing institutional measures for educational gain, capturing aspects of engagement, progression, and well-being. A Council Member of the Society for Research in Higher Education (SRHE) and Chair of the SRHE Research Development Committee since 2012, she has an extensive record of securing external funding from various sources, including UKRI, HEFCE, OfS, and the British Council. With a commitment to making higher education equitable and fair, she actively supports women and underrepresented groups in accessing and succeeding in academia, and is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
