Biography

Camilo Erlichman is a tenured Assistant Professor in the History Department at Maastricht University and Programme Director of the MA in Arts and Culture. He joined Maastricht University in August 2018 after serving as an Assistant Professor at Leiden University. Erlichman previously worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of History, European Studies, and Religious Studies at the University of Amsterdam, as well as at the Amsterdam Centre for Contemporary European Studies. His academic interests include European Studies, particularly focusing on historical and contemporary aspects of military occupation. He has been involved in various interdisciplinary research initiatives, including co-founding the Occupation Studies Research Network, which links scholars examining military occupation. Erlichman has taught numerous courses related to BA and MA European Studies and has led significant curriculum revisions. He holds a BA in History from the University of Bonn and an MSt in Modern British and European History from the University of Oxford. He completed his PhD at the University of Edinburgh, during which he received the British International History Group Thesis Prize. Erlichman has published extensively, including works that deal with social justice in twentieth-century Europe and transformative processes in post-war Germany. He has participated in various prestigious fellowships and grants aimed at promoting historical research and scholarship.
