Biography

Carel Dieperink is an Assistant Professor at Utrecht University, specializing in Environmental Governance. He has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Twente University and a PhD in International Relations from Utrecht University. His research focuses on multilevel water governance and the interactions between (inter)national institutions in relation to water quality and quantity issues. Recent projects include governance of floating photovoltaics, the implementation of the European Water Framework and Flood Directives, integrated coastal zone management, and international river basin management. He has worked extensively on knowledge co-production in assessing Dutch EU water climate projects, groundwater over-extraction, and the use of ICT applications in urban water governance. Dieperink has published over 50 journal papers and supervised 175 MSc theses on governance issues related to water. He also serves as an elected board member of the Regional Water Authority De Stichtse Rijnlanden.
