Biography

E. Carina H. Keskitalo is a Professor of Political Science in the Department of Geography at Umeå University, Sweden, and has also served as a guest professor at the Unit of Landscape Studies at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Umeå. With nearly twenty books and 150 peer-reviewed scientific articles and book chapters to her name, her work extensively focuses on political development in the Arctic and international regions, particularly regarding environmental policy and climate change adaptation within comparative contexts. Her contributions to academia include being a member of the Academia Europaea and the International Science Council's Global Roster of Experts, and she holds an alumni title at the Global Young Academy. Keskitalo has previously served as the vice-chair of the Swedish expert committee on climate change adaptation. She received the Nils Klim Award in 2007 for her impactful contributions to the field and has participated as a contributing author in the 2014 IPCC report on the Arctic Human Development Report. In her recent role, she has been involved in various research programs and projects focused on sustainable development and adapting to climate change.
