Biography

Carina Teixeira is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychological Medicine at King's College London, and serves as the Programme Leader for the MSc in Organisational Psychiatry and Psychology. She completed her PhD in Psychology at the University of Coimbra in Portugal, where she trained at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience at King’s College London under the supervision of Emeritus Professor Julian Leff. After completing her PhD, Teixeira moved to Boston, USA, to work as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Boston University’s Centre for Psychiatric Rehabilitation, where her research focused on psychosocial rehabilitation for individuals with serious mental health conditions, vocational rehabilitation, and cognitive remediation. Upon returning to London, she continued her collaboration with Boston University as an International Consultant. In 2019, she joined King’s College London as a Teaching Fellow in the Distance Learning MSc programme in Psychology, Neuroscience, and Mental Health, eventually becoming a Senior Teaching Fellow in 2021. Appointed as a Lecturer in 2022 and Programme Leader in 2023, she continues to make significant contributions to education and research. Teixeira is a trained clinical psychologist with a specialization in cognitive-behavioral therapy and is passionate about mental health advocacy and charity work in both Portugal and the UK. Additionally, she is a music artist known as Carina T, using her platform to raise awareness about mental health issues.
