Biography

Dr. Carine Lenders is a globally recognized pediatric nutrition expert with over 25 years of experience. She is the Founding Director of the Nutrition Fitness Life program, established in 2003, at Boston Medical Center, the largest safety-net hospital in New England. Dr. Lenders has co-led the obesity program at Boston Children’s Hospital for five years and has overseen inpatient nutrition teams for two decades, implementing crucial evidence-based practices such as the use of pharmacological intravenous fish oil in pediatric settings. She has developed a comprehensive pediatric inpatient nutrition model at Boston Medical Center, securing investigational new drug applications to address liver injury associated with intestinal failure. Dr. Lenders has led initiatives to revamp the nutrition curriculum at Boston University School of Medicine, training over 40,000 medical professionals worldwide while significantly reducing malnutrition rates in Vietnam. Her work has earned her the 'Medal Honor People's Health' from Vietnam, along with the Roland L. Weinsier Award from the American Society for Nutrition. Dr. Lenders is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Physician Nutrition Specialists, and she is actively involved in policy influence regarding pediatric nutrition in Massachusetts. She has authored over 70 publications and contributed to educational efforts in more than 100 countries, integrating clinical care and research to improve global health outcomes.
