Biography

Carl Gregory is an Associate Professor at Texas A&M University College of Medicine specializing in Medical Physiology. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of York and a PhD from the University of Manchester. His research primarily focuses on mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and their applications in bone healing and regeneration. Gregory's laboratory is actively examining the molecular biology of MSCs, particularly regarding their differentiation potential and the mechanisms involved in osteoblast differentiation. His work has led to the development of innovative strategies for enhancing the effectiveness of MSC preparations used in bone repair, which includes pharmaceutical conditioning prior to matrix administration. Gregory's research also investigates the role of Dkk-1, a Wnt pathway inhibitor, in malignant bone diseases and how it contributes to tumor-induced bone destruction. Additionally, he employs bioreactor models to simulate microgravity effects on bone-tumor interactions. His contributions to the field have been recognized with awards such as the Junior Faculty Research Excellence Award from Texas A&M Health Science Center and the Tulane University Competitive Research Award.
