Biography

Carl Ho received BEng, MEng double degrees and a PhD in Electronic Engineering from the City University of Hong Kong in 2002 and 2007. His doctoral research focused on dynamic voltage regulation and power quality issues. Between 2007 and 2014, he worked at ABB Switzerland, where he led R&D projects on solar inverter technologies and contributed significantly to power electronics research. In October 2014, he joined the University of Manitoba as a Professor and Canada Research Chair in Efficient Utilization of Electric Power, focusing on renewable energy and smart grids. He has published over 40 journal articles and 80 conference papers and has filed more than 20 patents. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for several IEEE journals. In 2018, he received the Prize Paper Award from the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics and is actively seeking graduate students to join his research team.
