Biography

Carl Ostendarp is an artist involved in pictorial abstraction, context painting, and installation art. He has participated in more than 40 solo exhibitions, both nationally and internationally, alongside over 170 group exhibitions. His recent exhibitions include 'Die Bilder Der Brüder' at the Museum Frieder Burda in Baden-Baden, Germany; 'Carl Ostendarp: Greatest Hits' at Kunstverein Heilbronn, Germany; and 'Everything Falls Faster than Anvil' at Pace Gallery in London, as well as a show at Elizabeth Dee Gallery in New York City. His work is housed in notable public collections, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Walker Art Center, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Museum Ludwig in Germany, Museum für Moderne Kunst in Germany, Kunstmuseum St. Gallen in Switzerland, Fogg Art Museum at Harvard, and Yale University Art Gallery. Ostendarp taught at New York University, Tyler School of Art, Rutgers University, School of Visual Arts, and Cooper Union before his tenure at Cornell University as an Associate Professor.
