Biography

Carl S. Parker is a Professor of Biochemistry at the California Institute of Technology. He earned his B.A. from the University of Rochester in 1973 and completed his Ph.D. at Washington University in St. Louis in 1977. After joining Caltech, he served as an Assistant Professor in Chemical Biology from 1981 to 1987, advancing to Associate Professor from 1987 to 1992, and attaining the position of Professor in 1992. He has been recognized for his work as the Executive Officer from 2000 to 2004. His current research in the Parker lab focuses on the molecular mechanisms that cells utilize to respond to physiological stress, particularly through the heat shock response.
