Biography

Carl Paterson studied Physics as an undergraduate at Oxford University before coming to Imperial College London to study for a PhD in Optics. He became a Royal Society University Research Fellow in 2001 and was appointed Reader in Physics in 2008. He started his research career working on diffractive optics and optical vortices, moving into adaptive optics and optical propagation in scattering turbulent media, as well as optical imaging. His current research interests also include endoscopy and Brillouin microscopy, with a particular emphasis on ocular imaging.
