Dr. Carla Hayn

Biography

Carla Hayn is a professor of accounting at UCLA Anderson School of Management and has served as the senior associate dean for the school’s Executive MBA and Global Executive MBA programs. In addition, she is the director of International Initiatives, part of the Center for Global Management, which focuses on global immersion courses and international exchange programs. Hayn was instrumental in developing the FEMBA Flex EMBA program, where students divide their time between intensive classroom learning and online lectures. She is also a faculty co-director of UCLA Anderson Executive Education’s corporate governance program, which educates and updates directors of public and private companies’ boards. Her research focuses on financial reporting disclosures, the effect of accounting numbers on stock prices, and the economic implications of taxation and mergers and acquisitions. Hayn has published numerous articles in leading accounting and finance journals. She began her career as a commercial loan officer and later became a senior financial analyst for the State of Florida legislature. Before joining UCLA, she was a faculty member at Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and held a fellowship focused on mergers and acquisitions at the Merage School of Business at the University of California, Irvine. She regularly consults for corporate boards on financial ramifications of alternative strategies and serves as an expert witness in securities litigation cases, primarily regarding financial reporting and corporate valuation.
