Professor Dr. Carlo Caponecchia

Biography

Carlo Caponecchia is an Associate Professor in the School of Aviation at the University of New South Wales. He joined the faculty in 2010 and specializes in human factors safety within various applied domains. His research interests encompass human error analysis, risk perception, communication, distraction, fatigue, psychosocial hazards, and system safety risk management. Carlo provides expert witness testimony on safe systems work and offers consultancy advice for industries on safety-related projects, including workplace culture and safety management. He regularly conducts seminars and keynotes at industry forums, emphasizing safe systems work and contributes to standards relevant to occupational health and safety management systems. Carlo is an active member of various professional associations, serving as President of the International Association of Workplace Bullying and Harassment and as a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of Australia. He teaches courses such as AVIA9101 Safety Risk Management and AVIA3013/GENS5003 Workplace Safety.
