Biography

Carlo Ratti is a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he directs the Senseable City Lab and is a founding partner of the international design office Carlo Ratti Associati. He has a background in architecture and engineering, having graduated from Politecnico di Torino and École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in Paris. He earned his MPhil and PhD from the University of Cambridge in the UK. Ratti is a prolific author, with co-authorship of 500 publications and numerous patents to his name. Ratti has been featured in various major publications, including Esquire, Wired, and Fast Company, and has served as a presenter at TED. He is also involved in advising the European Commission on urban innovation and contributes regularly to Project Syndicate, with writings published in the New York Times, Washington Post, Financial Times, Scientific American, and BBC.
